Cosmos Chess Club

The New York Cosmos have launched the Cosmos Chess Club, a new community initiative created in partnership with the New Jersey Chess Club (NJCC) designed to expand access to high-quality chess instruction and competition for players of all ages and abilities.

Programming will be designed for beginners through advanced competitors, with a special focus on youth development, girls’ chess and affordable on-ramps for first-time players.

● Coached Instruction: Age- and level-based classes led by experienced chess instructors; beginner bootcamps and advanced strategy labs.

● Open Play and Ladders: Community nights with casual games, rapid/Blitz ladders and themed workshops.

● Scholastic Chess: After-school clinics, inter-school league play and seasonal camps (fall, winter, spring, summer).

● Access and Inclusion: Free youth memberships for Passaic County school students, need-based scholarships and girls-only cohorts.
